The Mongols

The door of a ger is low, painted blue or orange, and faces south; inside, everything is round, with a stove at the center and a ring of light that travels along the wall through the day. From this tent, with its five kinds of animals, the chapter follows the Mongols to Genghis Khan's empire and to the smoke over Ulan Bator's ger districts today.
